Do I need an account to send files?
No. Guest transfers work without signing up — just generate a pair code and share it with the receiver.
How long are files stored?
Cloud transfers are stored for 24 hours and then automatically deleted. Direct transfers do not use any storage — files stream device-to-device.
What's the file size limit?
Cloud transfers: 50 MB per file. Direct transfers: limited by browser and device capabilities, not our servers.
Are my files encrypted?
Yes. Direct transfers use DTLS encryption (the same standard used by HTTPS) through the WebRTC data channel. Cloud transfers use TLS in transit and server-side encryption at rest.
Can I cancel a transfer?
Yes. During an active transfer, both sender and receiver can cancel. Cancelled transfers expire immediately and cannot be resumed.
Is OpenSend really free?
Yes. OpenSend is completely free, open-source, and ad-free. There are no paid tiers, no premium features, and no data monetization.
